The Heritage High School Junior Varsity Softball team (the
Flamingos) had their first very exciting win of the season
this evening.
Final Score 15-11. Players include Pitcher Trisha Campanella
who pitched 9 strikeouts and also hit a home run in the game
(her second home run this season). Catcher Abby Cauley did a
great job behind the plate and scored twice in the game.
Second base 6th grade Rookie India Stubbs Hammond proved her
rank on the JV team by keeping the ball in front of her and
scoring twice. Short stop Sarah Hinkle hit a nice line drive
with 2 RBI's. Third base girl Brittney Torres played a
flawless infield, keeping the team's head in the game as
usual and scored three times. Center fielder Jennifer Garity
scored twice. Jamie Kuykendell smiled as she ran across the
plate to score and kept alert in left field. Clarice
'Peanut' Young scored twice. The players played against the
Palm Coast Mustangs. They played hard and well, had a
fantastic attitude and the camaraderie in the dug out was
unbelievable. The umpire at the game tipped his hat to
Academies of Excellence for our noticeably good
sportsmanship.
Please take a moment on Monday to congratulate the players
on the JV Softball Team. This was only their second game of
the season, the first being a close game against St. Joseph
Academy last week. The girls are working hard to improve.
Coach Robertson and I are very proud of their success.
